Solar lighting unit

Solar navigation lights can work as a temporary, backup and permanent solution. In places where electric power is in short supply, solar units are perfect – they are to be found at airports in Africa or the Brazilian jungles.

What does a single solar unit look like? Is it that complex?

Let’s have a close look at an exemplary solar lighting unit. It is a modular unit that consists of three main elements. The first one is the illumination unit, at the top of which there is a radio antenna that allows for remote control and monitoring. Next, there is a LED lamp placed in a case. On the case, there is a battery level gauge, an emergency button and a charging port. Inside the element, there is a microcomputer with a transceiver and a battery. The second element of the lighting unit consists of a fixing and a platform. The third, in turn, is a separately installed solar panel.
